Description
The Tembela Syrah 2024 impresses with its blend of wild herbs, black pepper, and violets, perfectly balanced with lush red and black fruit profiles. This medium-bodied wine reveals a fresh, vibrant character on the palate, heightened by an invigorating liveliness. The inclusion of whole clusters enriches the earthy and spiced notes in the lengthy finish. Its grapes originate 80% from the sandy, weathered granite soils of the Polkadraai Hills, imparting a distinct minerality and brightness to the wine, while the remaining 20% are sourced from the Jakkalsfontein vineyard at Paardeberg in Swartland. The 2024 vintage has been exceptional for Syrah, resulting in the richest color to date under winemaker Banele Vakele’s production. The intricate watercolor label honors his mother, Tembela, depicted prominently with a basket atop her head, while a second woman in the background reflects themes of community and tradition.
